The Refaviv project comes from: "Energy Rehabilitation Social housing damaged facades". This is a project which aims to rehabilitate homes through their facades and energy isolation in the cities of Madrid and Seville. The plan has been initiated and coordinated by the University of Seville, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Zaragoza Housing Chair.

The program began in 2013 and ends this year, 2016. To achieve its objectives focused on the selection of two measures: the exterior insulation and installation of Rainscreen facades for housing rehabilitation.

Objectives

The Refaviv project was designed with these objectives:
  • Reduction of CO2 emissions by 20%
  • Increased use of renewable energy by 20%
  • Reducing energy consumption by 20%
Participating universities determined that it was necessary to achieve them focus on thermal insulation and installation of rRainscreen facades. As we have explained on other occasions, Rainscreen facades can assume an energy saving of about 40%.

Rehabilitated homes

The beneficiaries of this plan have been the deteriorating social housing in the cities of Madrid and Seville. 60% of these homes were built without taking into account any of the thermal energy criteria currently apply.
Selected social housing for their rehabilitation must meet these requirements:
  • Housing built on the 70-80
  • Improtant Shortcomings of construction and habitability
  • Immediate need for improvement in the thermal quality
  • Energy demands unfulfilled by the Administration

The most important purpose of the Refaviv project is to fund the energy rehabilitation and Rainscreen facades of the social housing where families live without financial resources who can not afford a complete rehabilitation of their homes.
