This time we are going to talk about King's Stables Road, a new residential project created by Sistema Masa in Scotland, specifically in Grassmarket. This project executed between 2018 and 2019 will be a historic development that will give life to an abandoned part of the city.
  • ArchitectFletcher Joseph Associates
  • Location: King’s Stables Road Edinburgh, UK
  • Approximate surface: 1.500 m2
  • System: PF-ALU/HPL
  • Type of building: education
  • Cladding: Stone

The design scheme includes a combination of residential units, a hotel and an art facility as well as student accommodation and a variety of commercial units that will bring the ground floor to life. Also, the proposal includes improving in the public sphere; remodeling routes, courtyards and improving the configuration of King's Bridge.

It consists of several buildings within the same project, with a height of 15.45 m and a ground floor of +4. So far we have worked on Bairds Close 1 (361.57 m²), Bairds Close 2 (585.02 m²), and KSR Hotel (344.19m²).

System used: PF-ALU/HPL

The majority of stones have an elevation of 44.40 cm which makes it easy to place them with the PF-ALU / HPL system, endowed with great versatility and speed of assembly. However, there are some 14.4 cm stones that are difficult to place because the horizontal profiles do not touch. As a solution, we opted for 12.5 cm stones made that has caused the cutting of a part of the profile wing.
